Community Engagement

Community Engagement focuses on aligning the needs of the community with external and internal resources. Community Engagement programs work to improve the quality of life of residents of the Near West by focusing on health, safety, housing, economic development, civic engagement and education. This work is bolstered by the Near West Quality of Life plans.

Near West Community Engagement and Quality of Life Initiatives

Hawthorne Community Center acts as the convenor for the Near West Quality of Life plan and houses the Near West Community Builder to actively engage individuals and partners who live and work in the Near West of Indianapolis to strengthen the quality of life in their neighborhoods.

The Near West is composed of the Haughville Strong, Hawthorne, Stringtown and WeCare Neighborhoods. If you have questions about the Near West Quality of Life plan, would like to get connected to your community or have ideas or plans for partnerships, please feel free to contact the Near West Community Builder, Carlena Moses or call 317-325-8513.
